Project Shark Tank

Project Shark Tank

(AKA: Community Project Selection Engine and Accelerator)

The BEC is hosting its first “Shark Tank” – a competition of ideas to champion that will make Blairstown a better place to live, work, and play. Possible ideas are endless… a new business zone, improve a playground, beautification… Whatever it is, we want to hear about it at our March 26, 2020 Shark Tank competition. If our selection committee loves your idea too, then the BEC membership will work to help you make it happen.

Project Details

We are collecting online “pre-qualification” applications from now until the January 8, 2020. In the meantime, we will be holding information workshops where applicants can meet with expert mentors and develop their ideas and project plans further.

On January 15, 2020 the Shark Tank Selection Committee will inform those project idea owners who have qualified for the Shark Tank Competition in March.

On March 26, 2020, we will be hosting the full Shark Tank competition. Winners can receive funding, mentorship and other resources necessary to accomplish your goal.

Online applications are being accepted now. The pre-qualification form asks about the general nature of your project, what the benefits would be, and what resources you feel would be needed to make it happen in terms of money, time, volunteers, etc.

What kind of projects are we looing for? ANYTHING! that supports the BEC mission that the Selection Committee determines is a viable project to take on at this time. Project areas can range from service projects, to infrastructure builds, to community events to economic development, to issue advocacy initiatves.

Who can apply? ANYBODY! Adults, high school students, organizations, and anyone with a great idea. The idea must directly impact Blairstown residents, but residency is not required.

Helen Keller once said, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”
