MAIN STREET TREES
Main Street Trees
One of BEC’s beautification goals is to enhance Main Street. Thanks to an anonymous donor, two flowering trees – Kousa Dogwood and Eastern Redbud – were planted across from the Post Office in April, 2018. Blair has agreed to water the trees regularly. As we watch them grow, they will make a beautiful addition to Main Street and will be stunning in full bloom.
A Kousa dogwood (Cornus kousa) with star-shaped, cream-colored spring blooms, red summer berries and striking, red-to-purple autumn leaves sits next to an Eastern Redbud (Cercis canadensis). Early spring bloomers, Redbuds have small, showy purple blooms that form clusters that pop up all over the tree, even on the trunk!
