Curb Appeal is a subcommittee of BEC whose focus is to positively impact the visual aesthetic of Blairstown through hands-on, volunteer-based projects. Meetings take place first Mondays of the month, 6:30 pm at 3 Water Street and members of the community are welcomed to attend. The local Jain Ashram has joined us in this effort and will be volunteering their time and resources at a Spring Clean-up in May. Please consider attending our next meeting…we welcome your input and ideas!
First Mondays of the month 6:30 pm
3 Water Street in Blairstown
Beautify Blairstown “Team Up to Clean Up” 5/17 & 5/18
In coordination with Blair Academy’s Clean-up Day of Service, 5/17, followed by planting, cleaning and other renewal projects on 5/18, join in BEC’s first Community Cleanup Effort on Main Street. Other organizations helping include Township Committee, Garden Club, Siddachalam Ashram, NWRHS Interact Club, and the Girl Scouts.
A delicious Vegeterian lunch will be provided to volunteers on Saturday by the Ashram. Roll up your sleeves and join us in this effort to help brighten up our Town. Volunteers Welcome!
We are currently researching better lighting options for the downtown area, which may improve visual aesthetic as well as safety. Possible New Initiatives include Bed Races (who remembers those in town?), recycling & painting.
Have you noticed the festive lights at the Post Office and in other local businesses? In an effort to light up the village area, the BEC has been donating lights to property owners along Main Street. We are also in the process of researching more permanent lighting in the downtown area. Improved lighting will give the Historic Downtown area a warm, inviting feel and improve the safety and visibility of the area. Interested in getting involved in this initiaitve? Contact us.
